Baby boy!

Last year, my friend and mentor, Lanny, had a babyshower for her son Jamie who is growing up to be the cutest boy ever! Lanny’s husband is from New Zealand while Lanny is from Indonesia, so you can imagine how amazingly attractive their son is going to be!

I was asked to bake some cupcakes matching the blue and white theme and of course, I grabbed the opportunity to build a cupcake stand as well! Overall, I took 4 days to build the stand, bake the cupcakes and do all the fondant decoration WHILE juggling a university assignment!

The fondant was bought from the supermarket as I didn’t have time to make my own, and the pattern was made from a stamp that I bought from a scrap booking shop!

I drew the letters on baking paper and then used that as a template to cut out the fondant.

In the end, everything looked great and I was really pleased! BUT… I felt that the cupcakes were way too sweet as they were vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing.. i.e. a lot of icing sugar and you could taste every gram of it. Some people felt they were too sweet while others thought they were okay. So now I just need to put more effort into making the cupcakes taste better! Anyone have a buttercream recipe that isn’t too sweet? I’d love to know it!

SYL! xoxo
